Mexico... Yes Please!

Brian and I just booked a trip to Mexico for the end of September! We are going over the big 30th for Brian which is on October 2nd! What a way to celebrate, hey?! We got a killer deal <- I mean smoken hot deal- and we could not be more excited! If you know me/us- We love the beach! So his birthday was a perfect excuse to get away!! It is our heaven on earth. We are staying at the Paradisus... here are a few fun shots of the hotel..

One Hell of a Long Weekend!!

This last weekend was a blast! I believe it was much needed medicine for the heartache we have been dealing with! First and foremost... Brian and I celebrated our year #3 as a married couple on June 3rd! To all of you who have walked so closely with us over the last 3 years- understand that it was not a 'bed of roses' and quite the journey for us. But we are making it and we are so happy! Thank you for believing in us!
Our weekend started off with a Friday night concert at Red Rocks.. What gets better then Red Rocks in the summertime in Colorado? We caught O.A.R. for an awesome performance!! Amazing live! The next morning was followed by the GoodGuys Car show! One of my absolute favorite summer kick offs! I love this show and I am not even a huge car person. But these gems are a sight to see and the show gets better and better each year! We wander the car show for a couple of hours only to count down for a flight to Vegas in the early evening! Ah... Vegas!!! Brian and I had so much... seriously one of the best trips we have taken. We had so much fun... we were out late (2 am every night! that is a Hopkins world record!)... we drank too much.... ate too much... laughed too much... it was perfect! I am blessed everyday by how amazing my husband is! Love you Brian! So here are a few fun photos that captured our long weekend!!!

Something else to note... My brother, Nick turned 30 on June 4th. It was a very hard day for our family. I miss him more then words could express... and I wish more then anything that our family could have celebrated with him. Our Beloved Harley T April 1997- May 2009

With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes... I am so deeply sadden to say that our beloved friend and dearest companion Harley passed away yesterday afternoon- May 28, 2009. My parents, Jami & I had to make one of the hardest decisions to 'let him go' at Friendship Hospital for Animals. Two days ago, little Harley started acting funny and he was not able to keep his food down. We thought he may just be out of sorts, because he was staying with Brian and I while my parents where in Utah. However, yesterday morning he took a terrible turn for the worst and I rushed him to the hospital. Blood work was ran, xrays were taken and an ultrasound was performed... we soon discover that our little old man had a tumor (most likely cancer) near his spleen. It had grown to over 3 inches by 3 inches- surgery was out of the question for our little 12 year old baby. Our doctor was unsure if he would even make it through surgery, because his kidney's were failing and he had inflammation of his little lungs. Dr. Cross gently and quietly told us that it was Harley's time...

Gosh, I love that little dog- Old Man Winter. It was so hard to let him go; yet I know we made the right decision for him. My mom held her little baby as he left us for the big dog park in the sky. Dogs are such faithful companions and love you all their little life's- that in the end we as pet owners need to do the responsible and loving thing for our beloved friends. As hard as that decision was... it was the right thing for Harley.

Goodbye old friend... we will miss you.

Graduation Weekend!

It truly was a fabulous weekend. It was amazing to walk in the commencement ceremony; it felt incredible to graduate with honors after all of my long nights and long hours; it was awesome to hear my family cheer for me as they announced my name. It was an amazing journey to experience and I am so grateful for my time at Regis University. We had so much fun celebrating all week and weekend. I am so spoiled! Brian and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt on Friday night and went to dinner at the Capital Grille on Larimer Square. We spent WAY too much on dinner but it was worth every penny- one of the absolute best meals I have ever had. Here are a few fun shot from the weekend. Sadly, it was really cold the morning of graduation... so we did not take many photos!

Today... I think I will always remember today and the feeling I have. It is something that I cannot quite express in words, but my emotions are so many. This morning I submitted my final paper for my MBA program at Regis. I am officially done with school. As I hit the send button on my email to my Capstone Professor; I was overcome with emotions and I began to cry. It has been such a long and amazing journey; one I would not trade the world for. However, I am excited to close the door on the masters program and open whatever door is out there and what is waiting for me. Thank you to all my precious family and friends who have walked so closely with me. Thank you for being a shoulder to cry on during my mental and emotional break downs, thank you for easing my stress, thank you for being a voice of encouragement and reason, thank you for always telling me I can finish.

Yes... it is true my baby made the pages (along with every other person who submitted a photo) of 9news.com today. It is true.. he is that cute. Unfortunately, his brother Guinness was unable to be photographed because he hates snow. But Bear on the other hand... is a freak for snow and well okay he is a freak for water... food... okay a lot of things- he is slightly weird but of course we love him.. He reminds me of Jami in a funny sort of way! Here are a few fun photos of the snow day!

It is hard to believe that March 2009 is coming quickly to an end. It is amazing how fast time is moving by and personally I have to say I am okay with that. It means I am that much closer to the big grad day... 6 weeks and counting!! But I must say that all is well in NoCo and the Hopkins/Jonckowski/Wiens family are excited for summertime. Jami and Dan's wedding is coming to life and it is going to be an amazing affair. I love to be so involved and love all of the planning. She is going to be a stunning bride.... I have not updated our blog in a long time... with good photos and good news! All is well in the Jonckowski-Hopkins house. Brian is doing well in his new Chase branch. It has been an adjustment with the WaMu buy out from last fall. Currently, Brian's branch is running as two seperate banks until the merge is complete in Oct. So one half is WaMu and the other half of the is Chase- Crazy huh?! At any rate, Brian is an amazing branch manager and is doing so well. He amazes me everyday and I am so proud of him. As for me... My life is consumed with grad school. I am finishing up on my last 9 weeks of school. Thank God! The program is really intense right now- I am in my Capstone (which is a 695 course) and another class. I spend about 30 to 35 hours a week finishing homework and school- I am still working 40 hours as well at Home State. I just submitted my first 100+ page paper. It is a beast- but I bet all of you are dying to read it! Ugh... To say the least, I am stoked and really looking forward to graduation on May 2ND! It is has been an amazing journey, but I am ready to be done! ;O) I hope all who read are well! I love you guys dearly!

CONGRATS to Jami and Dan for signing a contract on their brand new home! So your planning a wedding and buying house- You're crazy!!!!

For Brian's birthday, my gift to him was Bronco tickets. We sat in row 3- Club Level and it was so fun. Brian loved it. It was so different then a traditional gift; though they lost it was just fun and cold. Jami, Dan, and Miranda got tickets for the game as well. We were able to tailgate before. We were also able to meet up with Jason & Jenny and her folks, Jim (Brian's Dad) and Ron a family friend for a beer! It was so fun to see everyone. I think Brian really enjoyed his birthday!! It was so fun and we cannot wait to do it again!

I am sitting here in our living room- sipping on a perfect glass of red wine waiting for Brian to get home and I cannot help, but think about what happen a week ago. It has been on my mind all week. Last Friday evening, my parents neighbor, Bill, came home from a run and collapsed. Within 15 minutes he was gone.... Bill was only 58 years old, married to his wife, Donna for 38 years. My mind all week drifted toward her and her kids. Utter sadness has filled my heart, her whole life has changed in a matter of moments. They had the golden years ahead of them. Grandkids to spoil, a trip to Hawaii in Jan., a new winter home in AZ, retirement... and now she lives in a big house alone, waiting for Bill to come home. He was supposed to be in Washington D.C. this week and his suitcase is still sitting by their door. It has really hit home for me how precious life truly is and you never know when your last moments will be. Of course, we all hope to grow old and die peacefully in our sleep. But that is just not a reality for some of us. I love Brian more this week then I think I have. I cannot imagine my life without this man. He is my best friend, my hero, my strength, my lover, my shoulder to cry on. He is so giving, understanding and supportive. I cherish our quiet moments and still hours. I love my family more this week. I cherish Jami and who she is in my life more this week. She is my kindred spirit, my breath of fresh air, my solid ground and my best friend for all of my life. I cherish her honesty and her strenght. I cherish my parents and the love and support they have given Brian and I. Their gentleness, their prayers, and their advice; it has given so much life in my dark moments. They are one of my number 1 support while I am finishing my MBA program. Their encouragement and praise has spurred my spirit. I cherish Nick and the amazing brother and friend that he is. I cherish his gentle understanding and love. I appreciate his friendship and constant support. I cannot imagine my life without my family! I have 4 dear friends who read this blog, they are such dear friends of mine. They have gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life. They are true friends through and through. I want to live my life to the very fullest... and love the ones I cherish most. There is so much more to life..

We were able to sneak away this weekend with Jami and Dan to Breckenridge. Can you tell we enjoy each others company?? We are 4 best friends that love being together. I love sharing such fabulous memories with my awesome husband (he is just too cute!!) and my outstanding bff Jami and Dan. It is so fun. But it was stunning in Breck. The fall colors were in full bloom. The weather was awesome, a sunny 70 degrees. We were able to bring up Tobias and Kingstin Bear. Sadly, Guinness had to stay home. He is just a big boy and the car ride would be too much for him. Speaking of big- he is up to 95lbs!!! That is a big boy. But do not feel too bad for Guinness- he spent 3 full days at doggie daycare (his fave). To say the least- we have two very tried puppies tonight. I hope you enjoy the photos. We live in an awesome state!!!!

So... it has been a bit since our trip... a month today we left! I am SO sad... time goes so quickly- but nonetheless is was a simply amazing trip. Truly one of the best trip I have taken- we just needed a bit more time. 10 days is in store for next year! Nothing could have been better, the hotel was simply oustanding, the grounds- absolutely gorgeous, the drinks- the best, the beach- amazing, the food- to die for, the company- absolutely priceless! Well all... The time has officially come and we (Jami, Dan, Brian and I) are leaving on a jet plane for the blue ocean on Monday. I seriously could come out of my skin with excitement!!! We have been waiting months for this trip; it is going to be the time of our lives! What fun. It is going to be SO fun- spending it with 3 of my most favorite people. Not to worry- there will be millions of photos to follow. But sadly, I go back to no life with grad school starting back up the moment we get back. This 9 week break from school has been the medicine I needed. I will ask for forgiveness in advance.. I have gotten approval from the Lead Faculty of our MBA program to double up my classes so I can officially graduate in May of 2009. SO... what that means is I will literally have no life at least until December when I get a short break for the holidays. God bless Brian- because school makes me grumpy! :) Mexico is a much needed break... I send my love to all who read. Chat with you soon.

Lake Tahoe!

We went to Tahoe this past week and it was outstanding. We had so much fun. The photos I took barely do any justice for how breathtaking this area is. We had perfect weather, lots of laughter, awesome company. We met up with much of my mom's side of the family. (I did not take very many photos.. Jami took most of the family photos. I was bummed about that!!) It was great to see them. They are loud, funny, love to drink- we sound like family! ;op The trip went by fast but it was just wonderful to get away. I guess we cannot complain too much with Mexico less then 4 weeks away! But- I missed Brian, but we hope to go back sometime in the near future. It was so great to spend some quality time with Jami; since she moved to Denver we just do not get that chance very often! Here are a few of my favorite pics!

Lake Tahoe in her glory. The lake is 22 miles long, 12 miles wide and at it's deepest point it is 1600ft deep. It is truly blue as well- not your tradition lake water. Sad to say, but this lake puts Lake Dillon and Grand Lake to shame. It is just stunning.

The Accident

The Fourth of July turned out to be more eventful then we had planned, as well as an unplanned trip to the ER. (Which most I think are unplanned trips. ;op) But long story short Brian ended up going head first into the pool 5ft deep at my brother's condo. The impact was so severe that he split his head open to the skull and ended up with nearly 100 stitches. The cut is nearly 5 inches long. The accident has been very sobering for myself and Brian. You never think this will happen to you. We are so grateful that Brian's injury was only a massive cut. All of his doctors kept telling us he should have broken his neck and it is a miracle he did not. Our lives would have changed forever. It makes me cry just writing about it. I do not know what I would do without Brian in my life. He is such an amazing man and has been pretty tough through the whole situation. He has been off work all week; resting and taking it easy. The C Scan came back perfect and his healing has been another story. His swelling has gone done almost completely, his black eyes are nearly gone and his stitches are out- the cut looks outstanding. Thank you everyone who has been praying for Brian. Especially- thank you to Jami, Dan, Nick and my parents who have been so concerned and helpful during the accident. In closing, love the ones you love most everyday. Do not let the sun go down on anger, because you will never know what tomorrow may bring and you could be left wishing for the past.

Father's Day Weekend

This how our summer weekends are spent- at mom and dad's house on the lake. Nothing beats a Sunday afternoon here. Awesome company, sunbathing, fishing, sailing, a cool drink in my hand, laughter, friendship and sometimes a little out of control. It is a little heaven on earth.

Festivals in Denver...

Last weekend there was an art festivals on Larimer Square. It was amazing. What was more amazing is all of the pieces are drawn on the street! It was so fun... and the evening was top off with a Rockies game- they won. . . shocker. ;op All is well with us. Brian is in Chicago for the week- intense training. Poor guy is working from 7am to 9:30 at night; never leaving the 55th floor of the JP Morgan Chase building. They bring in breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I do not think I could do it... But the boys and I are home. Nothing too new. Trying to fight off a cold and I am putting off writing my paper. ::::::summer break I really need you:::::::

Yeah... it is a Maybach- worth more then my HOME, nearly one and a quarter more. I do not know if you can see the price... but it retails at $410,000. It is a f*%$ing CAR! The gentleman showing the car asked if we had any questions... we politely said "no" :)

Life has been so busy... It truly is hard for me to believe that it is the middle of May! Where does all the time go? Well for a quick update- Guinness is doing much better! Healed up and is healthy. At the end of June, I will be half way done with grad school!!! (YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I am just a little excited about that. It is hard to believe this time next year I will have graduated! Everyone mark your calendars- B.I.G party! What a wild feeling it will be to graduate from grad school at Regis! Brian is doing well.. He got his branch- finally. The branch is due to open November of this year. It will be on 120th ave in Denver. He is really excited. He has worked so hard at getting this branch. He has been recongized by the head of retail banking for JP Morgan Chase (some fancy gal in New York City). He was the last in the nation in his current position to be hired to a new build. I am so proud of him. And at the same time during all of the stress at work- he is finishing his second class in the MBA program with me! My husband amazes me everyday! Things with the house are well. Life is good! I am looking forward to a fabulous LONG weekend with Brian, Jami and Dan! We have so much fun together and I just miss Jami so much. Though Denver is not that far away... I miss my best friend. I cherish each moment I get to spend with her and I just hate when we have to say 'goodbye'. Cherish the friendship you have- they make your rich in life! Love you Jami!

Things have been a little rough in the Hopkins house lately. Guinness was next up to visit the hospital. He had to have surgery on his little (well lets rephrase that... NOT so little) paw on Tuesday. LONG story short, he had an old injury from his old family (bad family ;op) that they never took care of and it became super infected. There was a lot of scar tissue that needed to be removed as well as the infection. So to say the least, having an 80lb dog wander around the house with a cone is pretty funny. But on a serious side- since we do not have kids yet- Kingstin and Guinness are our kids and taking care of him was super important to us. It was so sad to see him all druged up. I think I got a "small" super small glimpse into parenthood and what is it like to have a sick baby. ..

The vet had to "jimmy rig" his cone so that he could not get to his paw. Oh yes... the baby boy took his bandage off with is cone head still on the day after his surgery! I know you wish your dog was as talented as mine!!!

.... A Kidney Stone...

So this week started off just fine.. working and school like always. However, early Wednesday morning I woke up in the middle of the night to a horrible upset stomach. I was able to fall back asleep, but when I woke up in the morning I still had the upset stomach and now I had terrible back pain. Nothing I had felt before. I drank some cub soda to settle my stomach and off to work I went. I felt okay... but exactly at noon, I was hit with major nausea and a light head. I ran into our bathroom thinking I was going to puke only to fall on to the ground to relieve my back pain. I had to go home. I was able to make it home to sleep on our couch, sort of. The moment Brian got home, I began to cry because my pain was so intense. That is when he said we needed to go to the ER. After getting checked in and looked over by the doctor and nurses, having an ultrasound- they found I had past a kidney stone into my bladder as well had ruptured a large cyst on my left ovary. The back pain was the kidney stone being past out of my kidney to my bladder. I was awful. I have been home since. What an ordeal... but thankful I am feeling much better today. I got off my pain meds- they were not sitting well with me at all. I was super dizzy and sick to my stomach from them. I have such an awesome husband who stayed home from work on Thursday to make sure I was okay. My folks have been great, they were at our side the whole time at the ER. And poor Jami called every moment she could. I know she hated being so far away but I could feel her support and prayers....

It was Jenny & Jason's (sister in law & brother in law) birthday this past weekend. Jason turned the big 30! It was an 80's themed party, yet Brian and I are party poopers and did not dress up- (in my defense we had a busy morning with moving my brother and vet appointments for the boys :p ) everyone had a great time.

It was so much fun spending the afternoon with Ivory and all of her awesome friends and family. It was too fun seeing Rhonda, Steph and of course Jake! I just love that little man. What a doll. Well we have a new member to the Hopkins family! He is a 4 year old pure-bred Weimaraner. He is pretty gorgeous! He is as silver as they come. We adopted him on Thursday from a little family that has just out grown him- I guess. But we are stoked to have him!! It will take time for him to get use to his new home and family but he is doing really well. Kingstin is starting to love on his much bigger (85lbs) older brother! Brian is super excited!!!!

How is that possible? Well to say the very least- Mexico was amazing. The wedding was awesome. Niki was a gorgeous bride- it made me hope that either nick or jami fly to the beach to wed. It was that great! There were 44 of us down there- so there was never a boring moment. We actually got "cut off" at the pool bar one afternoon, yep it is an all-inclusive resort- how does this happen? I guess anything is possible. The resort was amazing, the company and friends were fantastic, the food was fabulous, our room was perfect- what can I say- It is the ocean, the sand between my toes and a col drink in my hand- life does not get much sweeter. The ocean is seriously my place of peace. My spirit and my soul feels so rested. Brian and I actually hope to go back in November or New Years. It was just too much fun! So many wonderful memories....

I want to wish everyone a very happy new year! (all those that read our little blog! :) Brian and I are off to the beach- God Bless Mexico... I am so ready for a break- especially after not feeling well over the weekend. Both Brian and I are ready for a break and as my friend Ivory stated- some good R&R is much needed in the Hopkins' household. I will have lots of photos to post when we are back! But here with go 2008! It is so crazy to me to think of 08'- I remember celebrating 00' in Turkey! It seems like yesterday... time just flies. I wish everyone health- absolute happiness- great joy- peace- and many- many blessing. I love all of you very dearly- whom read this blog! Love to you. . . you have all touched my life deeply!

First Semester of Grad School Finished- CHECK!

I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was to hit the submit button this morning to end my first semester of grad school. It was like a huge thing was lifted off my shoulders. I am so excited about my business plan- all 29 pages. It feels so good and so rewarding! Now I can really enjoy Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone!!

Something to be truly Grateful for. . .

Brian and I are spending the Thanksgiving holiday at my parent's house this year. It was one of those times last night, as Jami and I were sipping on a glass of wine with my mom in their living room. Chatting about this, that and the other- while Brian and my dad were outside grilling wings. We thought Tobias and Kingstin were with them and they thought the boys were with us. When we finally realized the boys were not in the house- peer panic set in. Tobias and Kingstin were not home. In absolute horror, the back gate was slightly open and tiny foot prints led out in the fresh fallen snow- only to disappear in the brush that surrounds the lake they live on. It was 19 degrees out, 8 o'clock at night and my parent's live near a busy highway- 392. Without a coat, I ran out the back door to the highway- only praying that I would not find them up there. Jami ran out the door. . . Brian ran up the hill- were the local coyotes call home- my dad ran in the opposite direction of Jami. We had no idea how long they had been gone and all I could hear was my family calling out our dogs names. My heart sank as I reached the highway- they were not there. Sadness, tears, panic and heartache thinking we had to find them tonight or they would not make it through the night in the single digit temps. I was still running around the lake, when I heard my dad yelling MY name. He found them. . . They were safe at home. I just began to cry. He had found them in the neighborhood above my parent's home- running in the snow- playing with eachother. It was a miracle we found them.

Can you believe it? Christmas is here. It is ringing through the stores we walk through, everywhere you look. It is wild, I love it. Brian and I did put up our holiday decor this weekend. It makes the house so warm and fun, but where the heck has 2007 gone???

Morning everyone! Nothing too new or exciting to report on the Hopkins front. Brian did just get back from a week long trip hunting adventure with his Dad. No dead animals for this household! (thank god) To be very honest, I do not think my husband even shot his gun! I married quite the hunter.
Grad school is off and running. Regis is a fabulous university and I am really enjoying being back in school. I finished my first class, 4.0 A+. Not to shabby. Now I am in the 3 week of my second class. It has been overwhelming being back in school but all seems to be working out just fine. I am getting a lot of help from some awesome people! Thank you Brian, Beth and Sarah! You are guys are awesome.

8 Things. . .

Well from my lovely friend Steph, I have been tagged to share 8 things that people may not know about me... I will do my best- this is hard. My life is sort of an open book to anyone interested! :)

1.) I am a really bad backseat driver.... It annoys Brian to all end.

2.) My family often refers to me as "Did you know" because I am always quizzing them on history or sharing with them new interesting facts- by saying.. "did you know....etc.".

3.) I am in LOVE with Chinese history- it absolutely fascinates me.

4.) Riding horses and long boarding by myself is when my soul feels free.

5.) Brian and I were engaged only 6 month after met!! Yikes!

6.) I wish I could spend everyday by the ocean.

7.) I am afraid of dying...

8.) If you tell me something and ask me not to tell anyone... In my head that means: "Do not tell anyone but Jami!" :)
